Every deal looks good on paper. The accounts reconcile, the presentation is polished and the references are glowing. The questions that matter are the ones the paperwork was never designed to answer: who really stands behind this business, how have they behaved when things went wrong before, and what are they not telling you?
Beyond the data room
Financial and legal due diligence tell you what a company has. Investigative due diligence tells you who you are dealing with. Valkyrie looks at the individuals and entities behind a transaction: their corporate history, past disputes and insolvencies, regulatory and sanctions exposure, adverse media and the connections that do not appear on an organisation chart. Where public records run out, discreet enquiries can fill in the picture without alerting the subject.
When clients ask us to look
Investors weighing a new opportunity. Family offices approached with a private deal. Companies taking on a distributor, agent or joint venture partner in an unfamiliar market. Boards about to appoint a senior executive. Law firms acting on a transaction who want to understand the counterparty before the documents are signed. In each case the aim is the same: to make the decision with your eyes open.
Proportionate and confidential
Not every relationship needs a deep dive. We agree the scope with you, from a focused check on one individual to a detailed report on a group of companies across several jurisdictions, and we tell you plainly what we found, what we could not verify and what it means for your decision.
What happens if something surfaces
Sometimes the findings are reassuring. Sometimes they change the price, the protections in the contract or the decision itself. If concerns point to wrongdoing, we can extend the work into a full corporate investigation or support your lawyers with litigation support.
