Child Custody Cases

When parents separate, most find a way to put their children first. Sometimes, though, a parent is left with a worry they cannot shake: that the other parent is drinking again, that a new partner has a history, that the children are being left alone, or that a court order is being quietly ignored. Raising those concerns without evidence can feel like making accusations. Raising them with evidence is different.

Facts, not sides

In family proceedings the child’s welfare is the court’s paramount concern. Our role is not to win an argument between parents. It is to establish facts that help the court, or the parents themselves, make decisions in the child’s best interests. Sometimes those facts confirm a concern. Sometimes they put it to rest, which matters just as much.

What we can look into

Who a child is spending time with, and whether that person poses a risk. Whether arrangements set out in a child arrangements order are being followed. Concerns about substance misuse, supervision or unsafe environments. Plans to relocate or take a child abroad. Where messages or online contact are part of the picture, our digital forensics team can examine devices lawfully and properly.

Working with family solicitors

We are often instructed through the parent’s solicitor, so that our work fits the case strategy and the court’s procedures. Our reports are factual, measured and written to be relied on in proceedings.

Handled with care

Children are never approached or involved in our enquiries. Where surveillance is justified, it is proportionate and focused on the adults concerned.

Where phones, tracking apps or shared accounts are part of the dispute, see our digital divorce and family disputes guide.

A word of caution: accessing another person’s phone, email or accounts without permission is a criminal offence and can seriously damage your case. If you have concerns, speak to us or your solicitor first. Contact us in confidence.
