Covert Surveillance

A surveillance operative has to be unremarkable, patient and precise all at once. They must keep a subject in view without being noticed, record exactly what they see and when, and know where the legal line sits, because a single careless decision can make hours of work unusable in court.

Learning from practitioners

Valkyrie’s covert surveillance training is delivered by people who carry out surveillance professionally. It is designed for investigators, corporate security teams, insurers’ in-house staff and others who need to observe lawfully and produce evidence that holds up.

What the course covers

Planning and reconnaissance. Foot and vehicle surveillance, alone and as a team. Static observation. Communication and team discipline. Keeping accurate, contemporaneous logs and capturing usable imagery. Writing statements and giving evidence. Throughout, participants learn the legal and ethical framework, including privacy, data protection and the risks of harassment, so that their work is defensible.

Practical by design

Much of the course takes place outside, with realistic exercises and honest feedback. Participants come away knowing not only how to follow someone, but how to tell when they have been spotted and what to do next.

To see how this works on live cases, read about surveillance evidence for legal proceedings. For the defensive side, see counter and anti-surveillance training. Ask about dates.
