Final update on the ‘iPhone-in-a-fish-tank’ investigation. In phase-1 (20th Oct post) we assessed the phone and were able to identify the issues and procure the requisite replacement parts. During phase-2 (3rd Nov post) we successfully powered up the device. Phase-3 – ‘extraction of the data’, took longer than expected due to the occasional power issue and the considerable amount of data that was stored on the device. However, we got there in the end and the task has been successful. The data has now been passed to the law firm who are now going through the data by running keyword searches. The client was very happy that we had retrieved the data. Let’s hope they find the evidence they believe is on the phone amongst the data retrieved.
